The
Vogel Publishing Advertising and Production Departments
use a Macintosh environment, supporting QuarkXpress, Adobe
Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. If using a Windows environment,
it is recommended that the files are converted to a Macintosh
friendly alternative. All final electronic ads must be the
same size as the booked ad space.
Four-color ads for the cover and coated sections must be
converted to CMYK, 150 line-screen, minimum 300 dpi resolution.
Fifth color, Pantone, or metallic spot colors may be
available with prior arrangements only and at extra charge.
Black & White ads for the newsprint sections must be
converted to grayscale, 120-line screen, minimum 266 dpi
resolution. Newsprint reproduction incurs a dot gain of
approximately 35% (i.e. a 50% screen will print approximately
at 85%), please adjust artwork accordingly for the additional
dot gain.
Please ensure all graphic elements (screen & printer
fonts, and high-resolution TIFF images) are included in
the Quarkxpress document along with a proof. As a backup,
it is recommended to supply a Quarkxpress EPS or Photoshop
EPS format file with all the fonts and images embedded properly,
along with a view file. Final proofs are required for checking
electronic files to ensure they are complete and for color
accuracy. Color reproduction cannot be guaranteed if proofs
are not provided.
If you require any assistance in preparing electronic files,
please contact our Production Department.
Electronic
files should be received well in advance of the production
closing date to allow for pre-press inspection. Acceptable
material can be received via e-mail at [email protected]
as a compressed self-extracting file (maximum file size
2MB); larger files can be received on CD-ROM, or 100MB Zip
Disks. To ensure color accuracy and for checking electronic
files for completeness, all final ad materials MUST be accompanied
by a hard copy or a high resolution electronic proof showing
color bars.
